ACCOMMODATION
Young individuals placed with us will receive a written agreement delineating their rights and the terms of their supported accommodation, including details on how to lodge a complaint.
In addition to the bedrooms designated for young people, there is one dedicated sleeping area for staff.
The property features an open-plan living and dining area, generously furnished with ample seating and space for recreational activities, as well as for any classes or tutoring sessions the young persons may be engaged in.
The gardens comprise a patio area leading onto a lawn, providing ample space for sports or other physical activities.
Our homes are meticulously maintained to a high standard, and young people have access to TV and gaming facilities in the lounge.
Brighter stays currently delivers
Hitchin House and Fairfield Lodge are both 4-bedroom semi-detached houses, designed without major adaptations beyond what is typical of a family home. Typically, these houses offer placements for up to 3 male and/or female children aged 16 and above.
Each young person will have their own private bedroom, providing ample space for storing personal items and equipped with secure internet access. Bedding, towels, personal hygiene products, and kitchen equipment, if necessary, will be provided to the young person. BRIGHTER STAYS FACILITIES
Brighter Stays is located in Stotfold, Bedfordshire. Stotfold has many country walks and recreational parks, alongside being the home of football, cricket and rugby clubs. Stotfold is a short drive or train ride to the centre to Hitchin and other nearby towns, such as Stevenage, Letchworth, Bedford and Biggleswade.
The homes are easily accessible to local amenities such as the GP and dentist. A few minutes’ walk from the property is a park and a parade of shops consisting of a barber/hairdresser and a Tesco. The local gym is also under 10 minutes’ away from the property offering a modern gym and fitness classes. There are also various churches and mosques nearby. The busy shopping centre in Stevenage is conveniently located only 15 minutes away with a bowling alley, arcades and restaurants. Letchworth train station is 15-minutes away and Hitchin is 7 minutes’ away, both offering regular lines to London and Cambridge.

Our homes are conveniently located near local amenities, including GP and dental services. Within a few minutes' walk, residents can enjoy a nearby park and a parade of shops featuring a barber/hairdresser and a Tesco. A modern gym and fitness classes are also accessible within a 10-minute walk from the property. Nearby, residents can find various churches and mosques to meet their spiritual needs.
For entertainment and leisure, the bustling shopping centre in Stevenage is a mere 15-minute drive away, offering a range of activities including a bowling alley, arcades, and restaurants. Additionally, both Letchworth and Hitchin train stations are within easy reach, providing regular services to London and Cambridge.
Several secondary schools, including sixth form colleges, are conveniently located within walking distance or a short bus ride away, offering residents easy access to educational opportunities.
Individual Supported Living
We provide intensive 24/7 supported accommodation, which includes bespoke one to one support for particularly complex vulnerable young people.
We understand the clear and proven links between a healthy, active lifestyle and good physical and mental health, which is key to a young person’s chances of living independently.
Our personalised approach allows us to support young people in addition to identifying and addressing their individual needs, challenging risky behaviours and supporting them to access the local community services safely and independently.
HEALTH & CARE
We acknowledge that not all young people will feel comfortable to raise any issues or to participate in a house meeting, so we also encourage informal conversations and house meetings, for example around breakfast on a Saturday morning or lunch on a Sunday afternoon, which the young people are encouraged to prepare alongside staff.
The young persons placed with Brighter Stays will have key workers who will devise a key worker action plan and adults supporting the young persons will complete dedicated planned and unplanned keywork sessions with the young persons around issues illustrated in this and gain feedback on their opinion of the quality of care that they receive.
Emergency Placements
Young People’s needs for accommodation and support can change on a daily basis and at BRIGHTER STAYS we can respond to those emergency placements.
These can include young people whose latest placements have broken down, who have been released from custody early, whose lives are at risk due to gang involvement or Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) and young people at risk of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) that might need an immediate move.
Brighter Stays would seek to work with the Local Authority to provide accommodation, whether this be in a shared, Stotfold, Bedfordshire one to one accommodation with 24/7 support.
