HEALTH & CARE

Healthcare facilities we provided.

The residences enjoy convenient access to local amenities, including nearby healthcare services such as GP and dental practices. Within a short stroll from the properties, residents can find a park and a variety of shops, including a barber/hairdresser and a Tesco. For fitness enthusiasts, a modern gym with fitness classes is located within a 10-minute walk. Nearby, there are also churches and mosques for spiritual support. The bustling shopping center in Stevenage, equipped with a bowling alley, arcades, and restaurants, is just a 15-minute drive away. Additionally, Letchworth and Hitchin train stations are easily reachable, both offering regular lines to London and Cambridge, with Letchworth 15 minutes away and Hitchin only 7 minutes away by car.

Every young person under the care of Brighter Stays is assigned an Independent Review Officer (IRO) who provides support and advocates on their behalf.

Recognizing that not all young people may feel comfortable raising issues or participating in formal house meetings, we also promote informal conversations and gatherings.

For instance, we encourage discussions during breakfast on Saturday mornings or lunch on Sunday afternoons, where young people are invited to prepare alongside staff.

Young individuals placed with Brighter Stays will also have dedicated key workers who develop action plans tailored to their needs. Supporting adults will conduct both planned and unplanned keywork sessions with the young people, addressing issues outlined in this document and soliciting feedback on the quality of care they receive.

In addition to the rights applicable to all individuals, there are specific rights reserved for children. These rights are necessary to provide extra protection that adults may not require. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child is an international document that delineates all the rights afforded to children, defining a child as any person under the age of 18. Brighter Stays actively upholds all the rights of children as outlined in the convention. We foster an inclusive environment where discrimination in any form is strictly prohibited.
